Mrs Soy Pisey is a strong example of the determination and unlimited potential of Indigenous women. She was born in Phnum Svay Village, Ratanakiri Province, a region rich in Indigenous culture and natural beauty. As the eldest child in a single-mother household, she faced many challenges from an early age, but her determination to improve her family’s life motivated her to pursue education with dedication and resilience.

Despite financial difficulties, she sought scholarships and volunteered to gain experience and build networks. In 2014, she received a prestigious scholarship to study high school at United World College Red Cross Nordic in Norway. Later, she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Methodist University in the United States, graduating in 2020. Her dream was to receive a quality education and gain international experience with students from different countries.
After completing her studies, Mrs Pisey returned to her home province of Ratanakiri to contribute to local development. Since 2023, she has been working as a Sponsorship Officer with Plan International Cambodia, where she supports community development, monitors child well-being, and collaborates with local authorities. Previously, she worked with Swisscontact Cambodia as a hospitality training officer, helping communities develop skills and livelihood opportunities.
Mrs Pisey encourages young people, especially Indigenous youth, to focus on learning both inside and outside the classroom, emphasising that real knowledge comes from practice and community experience. She is a role model for Indigenous girls and youth, showing that with perseverance and education, they can achieve their dreams and contribute positively to their communities and society.
